What is TA Cube?
TA Cube is a miniteam working on projects involved in what is known as "Distributed Computing". The goal of these projects is to demonstrate the power of many smaller, less powerful systems when combined to act as a single massive "computer". These are worldwide contests with participants from nearly every country, and involving literally millions of participants!
In May of 2000, we began by working on the the RC5-64 encryption cracking project run by Distributed.net Recently, the founders of TA Cube made the decision to leave the RC5 project and, instead, direct our efforts to the SETI@Home project. While we will continue to support those remaining with RC5, our main thrust is now SETI.
As a "miniteam" we are actually part of a much larger team, Team AnandTech. The team has a fabulous, very active and very helpful Distributed Computing Forum. Team AnandTech is ranked near the top worldwide in many distributed related projects. Before repositioning, TA Cube had climbed all the way to number three in the world in RC5. Our goal is to achieve similar success in SETI. You, too, can be a part of this winning combination!
AnandTech is, in the not so humble opinion of One of Borg (me) the BEST hardware review site on the web. Bar none. The reviews are thorough, leading edge, and, most important of all, honest. The site should be at the top of your bookmarks.:-)
While the primary goal is, of course, to win the competition, we also happen to be having a lot of fun along the way. There are many helpful, knowledgeable and interesting people involved in these projects. Whether you're brand new to computing, or a seasoned geek, there's something for everyone.
AND STATS!!!!! Lot's and lots of stats!
Okay, does this look like fun? Head on over to Joining TA Cube! for more information!
